When you invest in a Wahed Real Estate deal, you own a fractional share of a specific property. While that property is tenanted, your share of the net rental income is paid out to you in cash. It is not reinvested and it does not accumulate inside the platform.
Payouts are made quarterly, into a bank account you nominate. That account is separate from the bank details you use to deposit, so it has to be set up before your first distribution is due.
Setting up your payout account
It takes about a minute, and you only do it once.
- Open the Wahed app and go to Private Real Estate
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner
- Select your payout account and confirm your details

The account must be in your own name. Payouts to a third-party account cannot be processed, and a name mismatch is the most common reason a distribution fails and has to be reissued.
What to expect from your first payout
Three things set the timing, and none of them are instant.
The property needs a tenant. A distribution is a share of rent actually collected. Until the property is tenanted, there is nothing to distribute.
A full quarter needs to close. Distributions are calculated after the quarter ends, not on a rolling basis. If you invested part-way through a quarter, your first payout reflects only the portion you were invested for.
The amount varies each quarter. You receive your share of rental income *after* operating costs, maintenance, management fees and any vacancy. It is not a fixed sum, and it is not a guaranteed yield. A quarter with major maintenance or an empty unit will pay less, or nothing.
How this differs from your capital
Rental income and capital return are two separate things on two separate timelines.
- Rental income arrives quarterly, throughout the holding period.
- Your original capital, plus any gain on the property's value, is returned only when the property is sold at the end of the holding period.
Receiving a quarterly payout does not reduce your investment and does not mean part of your capital is being returned. Your share of the property stays the same size.
If your payout hasn't arrived
Check in this order:
- Confirm your payout account is set up. No account, no payout. This is by far the most common cause.
- Check the name matches your Wahed account exactly. Banks reject transfers on name mismatches.
- Check the distribution schedule for your specific deal in its offering documents. Quarters do not all end on the same date across deals.
- Allow a few business days past the distribution date for the bank transfer to land.
If everything above checks out and it has been longer than that, contact the Real Estate team with your deal name and the distribution period.
