Retirement confidence is falling
The Employee Benefit Research Institute reported a drop in retirement confidence among workers and retirees unseen since 2018*. Here's what's driving the uncertainty.
Inflation
With a projected inflation rate of 2.4% for 2026*, your retirement fund is shrinking each year that it sits idle.
Retirement costs
Basic living expenses such as food, healthcare and housing are rising, putting an extra layer of stress on your investments.
Limited halal options
Not having enough tucked away in Shariah-compliant investments can easily turn the retirement of your dreams into a nightmare.
Our IRAs are here to bridge the gap
Each account offers a specific tax benefit, in a way that stays fully compliant with your faith. Select the one that best fits your needs.
Traditional IRA
Grow your investments tax-deferred until you withdraw your funds during retirement.
Roth IRA
Pay taxes now on your contributions and, in return, enjoy tax-free growth and qualified withdrawals later.
SEP IRA
Unlock the same tax benefits as a Traditional IRA, designed for small business owners and the self-employed.
For more information on IRA accounts please visit IRS.gov. Consult with your tax or financial advisor before implementing any plan changes, as your situation may vary. The term "halal" denotes that something is permitted and follows Islamic law.

Portfolio Return Methodology:
Returns are based on forward-looking Capital Market Assumptions (CMAs) — consensus estimates from Vanguard, J.P. Morgan, BlackRock, Morningstar, and Schwab. Rates reflect weighted equity/bond blends (e.g., Aggressive ≈ 90/10 at 8.5%; Moderate ≈ 50/50 at 6.5%) and are rounded conservatively. They are not based on any single fund’s past performance and do not represent a real investment as rates of return vary over time.
Inflation Rate:
2.78% annually (based on 20-year CPI-U average)
Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs):
- RMDs begin at age 73 (SECURE Act 2.0)
- Calculated using IRS Uniform Lifetime Table
- RMD = Account Balance ÷ Distribution Period (based on age)
- Example: At age 73, distribution period is 26.5 years
- Example: At age 80, distribution period is 20.2 years
- If annual spending exceeds RMD, the higher amount is withdrawn
Important Information
This calculator provides estimates for illustrative purposes only and should not be considered financial, tax, or investment advice.
All investments carry a degree of risk and past performance is not a guarantee of future results. This is for illustrative purposes only and does not represent the return on any particular investment. Rates of return will vary significantly over time and loss of principal is possible.
Assumptions and limitations:
- Returns are hypothetical based on forward-looking Capital Market Assumptions (CMAs) derived from consensus forecasts by Vanguard, J.P. Morgan, BlackRock, Morningstar, and Schwab — they are not guaranteed
- The projections or other information generated by the Retirement Calculator regarding the likelihood of various investment outcomes are hypothetical in nature, do not reflect actual investment results and are not guarantees of future results. Results may vary with each use and over time.
- Intended only to provide a general guideline for planning purposes
- Portfolio return rates reflect weighted equity/bond blends at each risk level and are deliberately rounded conservatively
- Tax calculations are simplified and assume Married Filing Jointly status
- Inflation projection uses a 20-year CPI average and may not reflect future rates
- Social Security, pensions, and other income sources are not included
- State and local taxes are not considered
- Healthcare costs and long-term care expenses may require additional planning
- The age-based glidepath is simplified to four brackets; actual target-date funds use a continuous glide

Frequently asked questions
What is an IRA?
An Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is a savings account designed to help you save for retirement with tax advantages. The two most common types are Traditional and Roth IRAs.
What is a Roth IRA?
With a Roth IRA you contribute after-tax dollars. If you satisfy the requirements, qualified distributions in retirement are tax-free. Contributions to a Roth IRA are not tax deductible.
What is a Traditional IRA?
Contributions to a Traditional IRA may be tax deductible depending on your income and workplace plan. Your investments grow tax-deferred and you pay income tax on withdrawals during retirement.
Can I roll over my 401(k)?
Yes. If you have an existing 401(k) or IRA elsewhere, you can roll it over into a Wahed halal IRA so your retirement savings are invested in line with your values.
When can I withdraw my money?
Withdrawals before age 59½ are generally considered early distributions and may be subject to an additional 10% tax unless an exception applies. Consult a tax professional about your situation.
How much does it cost?
Retirement accounts are included in Wahed's transparent wrap fee at no extra cost, with a $100 account minimum to get started.
