Wahed does not deduct zakat on your behalf. Your balance is gross of zakat, and paying it is your responsibility. You can calculate your dues using the Wahed Zakat Calculator.
For most retail investors held with the intention of long-term growth rather than active trading, the majority scholarly position treats the zakatable amount as the market value of your holdings. Zakat is due once a full lunar year passes on wealth above the nisab.
Two points people get wrong:
- Zakat on income already paid from your salary does not cover the invested balance sitting in your account. These are separate.
- Different state authorities publish different calculators. Use your own state's or check the Wahed Zakat tool for guidance.
For anything unusual, ask a qualified scholar.
