The risk assessment asks about your time horizon and how you would react to a fall in value. Answer it as you actually are, not as you would like to be.
As a rough guide:
- Conservative — money you may need within 1–3 years, dominated by sukuk and gold.
- Moderate — 3–7 year horizon, balanced between equities and sukuk.
- Aggressive / Very Aggressive — 7 years or more, mostly equities, with the largest short-term swings.
The honest test is not which returns you want. It is whether you would still be invested after a 20% drop. If the answer is no, you have chosen too aggressively.
You can change risk level later.
