The SRB appointed representatives on our Shariah Committee ensure that all returns are Shariah.

For the purpose of effective Shariah governance and supervision, three renowned and qualified Shariah scholars have been assigned. The Shariah Committee independently issues pronouncements, and these rulings are binding onus. The names of the Shariah Committee members are provided below:

Sheikh Sajid Umar
Shariah Advisor

  • Qualified Mufti and Judge.

  • International speaker and Islamic personality.

  • PhD from the Higher Institute of Judiciary at Al-Imam University in Financial Risk Management, and in particular, Standardised Hedging Contracts between Islamic Financial Institutions (Treasury Operations).

  • Head of Department of Fiqh and a lecturer at Knowledge International University.

  • Religious advisor to various endowments and family offices.

Sheikh Dr. Aznan Hasan
Shariah Advisor

  • Member of Shariah Advisory Council, AAOIFI, Bahrain.

  • Deputy Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council, Securities Commission of Malaysia.

  • Member of the Higher Shariah Authority of the Central Bank of UAE.

  • President of Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS).

  • Sheikh Dr. Aznan received his first degree in Shari'ah from the University of Al Azhar and his PhD. in Shariah from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.

Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Sultan

  • Sheikh Muhammad has worked predominantly in financial services as well as in retail and investment banking.

  • He received a bachelor in Islamic sciences from Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom and received his Masters (A’alamiyah) in Fiqh and Usool ul Fiqh from Jami’ah Ahsan Ul Uloom.
