There are no age limits in order to qualify for an IRA but there are some restrictions when it comes to income you may want to consider. Lets break them down:
Traditional IRA: Anyone with earned income can contribute to a Traditional IRA, regardless of their income level. It’s open to all.
Roth IRA: Contributions to a Roth IRA are based on your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI). If your MAGI falls below the IRS limits for your filing status, you’re good to go.
For the year 2024, if you’re single and want to contribute to a Roth IRA, your income must be below $153,000.
If you’re married and filing jointly, your combined income should be under $228,000.
So, in a nutshell:
Traditional: Open to all.
Roth: Income limits apply
