Getting started with Wahed’s private real estate investing only takes a few minutes. In this guide, we’ll walk you through each step of the account setup process.

Creating an account gives you access to carefully selected, Shariah-compliant property investment opportunities, allowing you to build a diversified real estate portfolio without needing large amounts of capital upfront.

Once set up, you will be able to browse deals and make investments via your Wahed App.

What you'll need before starting

Before starting the signup process, it’s best to have this information handy:

  • Valid email address - This will be your login and primary contact method
  • Mobile phone - Required for SMS verification and security
  • Government-issued photo ID - Passport, Driving licence or Residence Permit

Step-by-step account creation

Step 1: Download the app

Search for ‘Wahed’ on the App Store or Google Play Store, or download the app by clicking here.

Step 2: Verify your email address

Enter your email and check your inbox for a verification code.

  • This confirms your email address is valid and accessible.
  • If you don't see the email, check your spam or junk folder.

Step 3: Choose your product type

You’ll be asked to select a product to continue your onboarding. For real estate investing, choose "Real Estate" on the product selection screen.

Step 4: Enter your personal details

Provide your full legal name (as it appears on your ID) and your date of birth. This helps us meet regulatory requirements and confirm you’re eligible to invest.

Step 5: Add your address information

Enter your current residential address, including house number, street name, city and postcode. Make sure this matches your proof of address (e.g. bank statement or utility bill) exactly.

Step 6: Review and accept terms and conditions

Review your details and accept the terms, including our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Client Agreement.

Step 7: Consent to marketing

Tick the box to receive updates. For real estate investors, this is essential as it’s how we notify you when a new property deal goes live. You can change this later in your settings.

Step 8: Verify your identity (KYC)

As a regulated financial institution, we are required to verify your identity before you can invest. This involves:

  1. Uploading a valid photo ID
  2. Taking a clear selfie to match your ID

Follow the prompts on the screen and ensure both are well-lit and in focus.

Step 9: Explore the app while we verify your identity

You can start browsing live deals and learning how everything works. ID verification is usually completed within a few minutes to 24 hours. In some cases, it may take longer if we require additional documentation as part of our routine regulatory and compliance checks. We’ll notify you once your identity verification is complete.

Tips for successful account setup

Use consistent information across all forms. Make sure your name, address and other details match exactly between your registration and supporting documents.

Choose a secure password that you haven't used elsewhere. Consider using a password manager to generate and store a unique, strong password for your investment account.

Complete verification promptly after registration. The sooner you upload your documents, the faster you can start browsing investment opportunities.

Check your email regularly during the setup process. Important updates about your application status will be sent to your registered email address.

Investing in start-up limited companies carries certain risks which can include (but is not limited to) illiquidity; a potential lack of dividends; loss of the entire Investment and dilution, and it is your responsibility to satisfy yourself that this risk is acceptable to you. The asset owned by the SPV you hold shares in is a property that receives rent, this will be paid to you and the other shareholders of the SPV in the form of dividends, net of any fees, costs and expenses payable. In the event that the property does not produce rent or the amount of rent received is less than the amount of fees, expenses and costs payable, no dividends will be paid. As such, there is a risk that you will not see a return on your investment. Making an investment should be done only as part of a diversified portfolio. This means that you should invest in relatively small amounts into multiple assets / SPV’s rather than one or two. Further, you may only want to invest a small proportion of your investable capital in any start-up business / SPV and other money invested in safer, more liquid assets. Past performance should not be used as a reliability indicator as future potential is unknown and is independent of past performance.
