“Wahed is the place and opportunity for you to make a difference. Nothing beats the satisfaction of working with like-minded people who share a common goal and drive, to make an impact with everything we do. A growing company backed by real talents.”
Tell us more about your role at Wahed?
I essentially look at the business operations aspect of running the entity. It entails a wide range of responsibilities related to operations, strategy, marketing and sales. It's all about establishing processes and constructing frameworks in order to quickly roll out new countries. As a member of the global team, I investigate various markets, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Malaysia.
What is the number one reason you work with Wahed?
The fact that we are a global team and that our company has an international appeal. Working with diverse team members and learning new things is always exciting. Not only that, but we are in a thriving industry. Fintech is the place to be, especially when we can provide meaningful products and solutions to millions of people.
How do you stay motivated at work?
Engaging with different sorts of team members and departments on a regular basis. I collaborate with people from marketing as well as operations, so that brings excitement. The fact that my duties don’t get monotonous!
Second, the satisfaction of working on something our customers are pleased with keeps me motivated.
Name one thing you love about Wahed's company culture.
The willingness to discuss things! Even though we are all from diverse backgrounds, we have so much respect for each other’s diversity. Every team does things in a certain manner, yet cultural differences never get in our way. The harmony we all share, despite our globality, is really cool to me!
Do you prefer working for a start-up like Wahed as opposed to one of the larger corporations?
My background of work experience has always been with a start-up. Building companies from scratch gives you a lot of freedom. You can’t find that nature of work in a well-established firm. At the same time, we are rapidly expanding, and as long as we maintain a balanced approach, there is no denying that we are on our way to becoming a larger corporation.
Tell us something you love about your hometown. What are some places you visit often?
I really love Malaysia's heritage; there are streets and settlements built by the British here. They have a lovely charm and illustrate Malaysia's multiculturalism. Penang, in particular, is one of the places I love to visit. It is a mix of different cultures and communities that have existed for 400 years. So it’s always a pleasure to go to that part of town.
